The group’s first conference – a Subcultural Exchange for Urban Development – will be held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) on May 23, 2014 and then continue annually. The conference, beginning at 4 p.m, is free and open to the public. From this year on it will constantly evolve by developing partnerships and exchanges between artists and entrepreneurs in both cities.
Partners traveling to Detroit in the project include Tresor/Kraftwerk Berlin, newthinking, WOMEX /Classic:NEXT / C3 Festival, Holzmarkt cooperative, Clubcommission, Das Musicboard and other projects from Berlin; Underground Resistance, Model D, Paxahau/Movement, and other creative progressive projects from Detroit.
The program will include presentations by the representatives of the organisations involved in art/entrepreneurship efforts key to the city’s revitalization over the past 25 years. A panel discussion featuring Berlin and Detroit participants will follow, along with a Q&A session and a chance for the public to mingle with the speakers.
